Viking appliances are available in several finish options beyond standard stainless steel. BlackChrome, Graphite Gray, Apple Red, and other finishes each have specific care requirements to maintain their distinctive appearance.

BlackChrome is Viking proprietary matte black finish applied over stainless steel. It provides a sophisticated, fingerprint-resistant surface but requires different cleaning methods than standard stainless.

For BlackChrome surfaces, use only mild soap and water or cleaners specifically approved by Viking. Avoid abrasive cleaners, steel wool, or harsh chemicals that can damage the finish coating. Microfiber cloths are ideal for both cleaning and drying.

Stainless steel Viking surfaces should be cleaned in the direction of the grain. Use stainless-specific cleaners and avoid chloride-based products that can cause pitting or discoloration. In Scottsdale, the dry air helps prevent water spots if you dry surfaces after cleaning.

Colored Viking finishes (Apple Red, Cobalt Blue, etc.) have enamel or powder-coat surfaces. These finishes resist scratching better than stainless but can chip if impacted. Touch-up kits are available from Viking for minor chips.

Knobs and control panels require gentle cleaning. Viking Pro-style knobs have detailed markings that can be damaged by abrasive cleaning. Use a damp soft cloth and mild detergent.

Professional Viking cooking grates come in different materials and finishes. Chrome-plated grates clean easily but can chip. Porcelain-coated grates resist sticking but need careful handling. Cast iron grates require periodic seasoning.

If your Viking finish develops issues beyond normal wear — peeling, bubbling, or significant discoloration — contact us for assessment. Some finish issues may be covered under warranty, and we can advise on repair or replacement options.
